The Not for Profit Advantage
The Larksfield Place Board of Directors and staff believe "not-for-profit" stands for more than being a certain type of legal incorporation, or enjoying a certain tax-exempt status with the IRS. They believe "not-for-profit" means a higher commitment of service to others than may be found in the for-profit sector. This difference manifests itself in five areas:
- The primary motivation is service. Larksfield Place exists to serve older persons as a "service ministry".
- The approach to the delivery of care is that the first and foremost consideration is always the needs of those who live here.
- Likewise, Larksfield Place's goal is not merely to meet industry standards, but to exceed them.
- The mission is reflected in a philosophy that recognizes a responsibility to meet the needs of the total person - mental, social, psychological, and spiritual - not just their physical needs.
- Larksfield Place's community commitment is demonstrated by placing stewardship over profit, and by returning surplus funds to programs and services beneficial to the community at large.
